Day 1 Recap

The first full day of the quick course was absolutely fantastic. Everyone is eager to learn and the questions are great.

Yuri kicked things off with a high-level view of the state of mobile setting the course for the weekend. It was a good lesson in presentation translating but Lily, our guide and translator, was awesome.

I followed up with my presentation on “What Works for Mobile,” which covered content in the mobile space and how design carries from product to product. We rounded out the afternoon talking about finding the mobile strategy that works for you and an informal Q&A session.

Now that we have the lectures out of the way it’s on to the tech portion. We’ll discuss resources and mobile frameworks with examples for tomorrow’s sessions, which is really today for us. Then, we will finish the course by building a Web app live while collaborating with the audience. We’ve never coded live before like this so hopefully we can actually do this stuff.

Until tomorrow.

Never worked with a backdrop before. We might try to smuggle it home.

Garden view of our hotel. It was overcast and rainy for the first course day. More to come…

The grand ceiling of the conference hotel. Absolutely stunning resort. Hallways feel a bit like “The Shining” though.
